Coordinate Axes And Coordinate Planes In Three Dimensional Space
Chapter Name : Introduction To Three Dimensional Geometry
Sub Topic Code : 104_11_12_02_01
Topic Name : Coordinate Axes And Coordinate Planes In Three Dimensional Space
Sub Topic Name : Coordinate Axes And Coordinate Planes In Three Dimensional Space
Introduction

Like in 2D, axes in 3D are also mutually perpendicular but the difference is in the number of axes involved. In 2D two axes are involved (x and y axis) but in 3D three axes are involved namely x, y, and z-axes.

Pre-Requisites:

2D Cartesian plane, Plotting of points in 2D, 2D coordinate geometry

Real Life Question:

What is the relation between 3 axes?

Key Words / FlashCards
Key Words Definitions (pref. in our own words)
Cartesian coordinate system A Cartesian coordinate system specifies each point uniquely in a plane by a pair of numerical coordinates, which are the signed distances from the point to two fixed perpendicular directed lines, measured in the same unit of length.
Three dimensional space Three-dimensional space is a geometric 3-parameters model of the physical universe in which we exist.
