Coordinates Of A Point In Space
Chapter Name : Introduction To Three Dimensional Geometry
Sub Topic Code : 104_11_12_03_01
Topic Name : Coordinates Of A Point In Space
Sub Topic Name : Coordinates Of A Point In Space
Introduction

We plot a point in 3D by measuring its distance from all the three axes simultaneously. Depending on the position of a point in the space, it may have one, two or all three coordinates zero. If it lies on any of the axis then two coordinates are zero, if on any coordinate plane then 1 coordinate is zero while the coordinate of origin is zero.

Pre-Requisites:

2D Cartesian plane, Plotting of points in 2D, 2D coordinate geometry.

Activity:

Plotting of points in 2D

Real Life Question:

null

Key Words Definitions (pref. in our own words)
Three dimensional space Three-dimensional space is a geometric 3-parameters model of the physical universe in which we exist.
Cartesian coordinate system A Cartesian coordinate system specifies each point uniquely in a plane by a pair of numerical coordinates, which are the signed distances from the point to two fixed perpendicular directed lines, measured in the same unit of length.
