Chapter Name : Gravitation |
Sub Topic Code : 101_09_10_05_02 |
Topic Name : Thrust And Pressure |
|
Sub Topic Name : Pressure In Fluids |
Any fluid, including water exert force on the bottom of the container (bottom layers) by the virtue of its mass. Thus, as the depth increases in the sea, the pressure increases too.
Gravity, Pressure, Mass
If you are a really good swimmer, observe the difference in the pressure you experience at the surface of water and when you are at a considerable depth.
Deep sea divers often die because they ignore the effects of force exerted by the water at depth. Hence there are special suits to protect them. How does water exert a force on these divers?
Key Words | Definitions (pref. in our own words) |
---|---|
Pressure | Force per unit area |
Fluids | Liquids and gases which flow |
Gadgets | How it can be used |
---|
Thrust and Pressure is taken in to consideration when designing buildings aircrafts, submarines, ships etc.
Aeronautical Museums, ship docs have models on how air-planes and ships and submarines can handle pressure and thrust.
Examples | Explainations |
---|
The concept of pressure and thrust in context of fluids.
How the analysis of this pressure and thrust exerted by the fluid particles is necessary in the design of large machines like Aircrafts and ships.
