Key Words / FlashCards
Key Words Definitions (pref. in our own words)
Function A relation f from a set A to set B is said to be a function if every element of set A has one and only one image in set B. The function f from A to B is denoted by f: A ? B
Image If f is a function from A to B and (a,b) ? f, then f(a)=b, where b is called the image of a under f.
Real Valued Function A function which has either R or one of its subsets as its range is called a real valued function.
Learning aids / Gadgets
Gadgets How it can be used
Currency Converter Draw a table with two rows and multiple columns and calculate values for a function. Row 1 will have the values for x and Row 2 will have the calculated values of y.
Real life uses :

Earth’s average land surface temperature has risen 0.8–1.0°F in the last century. Scientists believe it could rise 1–4.5°F in the next fifty years and 2.2–10°F in the next century..It is predicted with the help of functions!
