Introduction

Finding the digits which are replaced by letters.

Pre-Requisites:

Basic knowledge of divisor and multiple.

Activity:

If sum of two 2digit numbers gives a 3 digit number then hundreds coefficient of the resultant 3 digit number is always 1.

A merchant sends his two sons to get some money, but they should not reveal to each other. When his sons bring the money and give to him. He conceals the total amount of money and gives a puzzle.1st son? Rs AB and 2nd son ?Rs BC total is AAA, where A, B, C are unique numbers. Find out A,B,C.

AB+BC = AAA find A,B,C Newly 3 digit number is formed. The hundreds digit is the result of carry from the sum of tens digit. Therefore A=1. Check units tens digit. A+B=10+A or A+B+1=10+A(if there is a carry from units place).obviously B cannot be 10.therefore B=9.units place B+C=10+A.So C=2.
