1.The mode of polymerization is either through formation of free radicals or ionic species. 2.The free radical governed addition or chain growth polymerization is the most common mode for making polymers. 3.Free- radical mechanism : A variety of alkenes or dienes and their derivatives are polymerized in the presence of a free radical generating initiator (catalyst) like benzoyl peroxide, acetyl peroxide, tert-butyl peroxide, etc. 4.There are two types of polythene: low density polythene and high density polythene.
