Heterogeneous Equilibria
Chapter Name : Equilibrium
Sub Topic Code : 102_11_07_06_01
Topic Name : Heterogeneous Equilibria
Sub Topic Name : Heterogeneous Equilibria
Introduction

• Equilibrium in a system having more than one phase is called heterogeneous equilibrium. • The equilibrium between water vapor and liquid water in a closed container is an example of heterogeneous equilibrium. For the existence of heterogeneous equilibrium, pure solids or liquids must also be present at equilibrium, but their concentrations or partial pressures do not appear in the expression of the equilibrium constant, Kc.

Pre-Requisites:

Solid, gases, reactants, products

Activity:

• Liquid water and vapor in a closed container is an example of a heterogonous equilibrium.
