Topic Name : Preparation Of Dihydrogen |
|
Sub Topic Name : Laboratory Preparation Of Dihydrogen |
Dihydrogen is produced in the laboratory by 2 methods : • By the action of metals like Zn, Fe with acids (like HCl). • By the reaction of metals like Zn, Sn with alkalies (like NaOH).
When HCl is added to the metal samples, hydrogen gas is evolved. This gas can be identified by bringing a burning splint close to the mouth of each of the test tubes. A pop sound is produced indicating the presence of hydrogen gas.
Can dihydrogen be produced in the laboratory?
Key Words | Definitions (pref. in our own words) |
---|---|
Dihydrogen | In elemental form, hydrogen exists as a diatomic molecule and is called as dihydrogen. |
