Examples Explainations
Pyridine Pyridine is a basic heterocyclic organic compound with the chemical formula C5 H5 N. It is structurally related to benzene, with one methine group (=CH-) replaced by a nitrogen atom.
What you learn in Theory:

Electrophilic aromatic substitution is an organic reaction in which an atom that is attached to an aromatic system (usually hydrogen) is replaced by an electrophile.

What you learn in Practice:

Electrophilic attack on the benzene ring by an electrophile leads to the formation of a carbonium ion. The positive charge of this carbonium ion is distributed over the whole molecule particularly on the 1 and 3 positive relative to the carbon atom bearing the electrophile.
